Control of invasive plants | Jardin botanique de Montréal

This project to revitalize the Frédéric-Back Tree Pavilion Pond draws on the Botanical Garden's recognized expertise in phytotechnology. Phytotechnology, which uses plants to solve environmental problems, was implemented to prevent plant invasions in and around the pond. These green technologies are an integral part of actions geared at ensuring the sustainability of this precious water body.

For this project, La Bande à Paul developed various mediation devices to popularize the Pond’s natural wealth and the environmental interventions that were carried out on the spot. To this end, three interactive stations were designed: two audio terminals and a swing. Each station broadcasts an original audio track. The two terminals present the Pond’s fauna and flora in a playful way, while the swing plays a selection of local bird songs when activated.

Alongside the stations, a panel was installed on the Tree Pavilion lookout rampart, which features a map that identifies the various elements that contribute to phytoremediation strategies.
