Opémican | Parc national d'Opémican

Opémican, located in the heart of the Parc national d'Opémican in Témiscamingue, is a classified heritage site that includes a group of buildings of great historical value. Sépaq, aware of its potential, was looking to develop the former timber floatation station to turn it into not only one of the park’s attractions but also one for the entire region. To this end, our team designed a trail for families and other visitors that included rich multimedia experiences.

The interpretive route is made up of a series of coloured markers that provide information on the buildings and equipment present or missing from the site. As they explore, visitors can enter restored buildings (a boom shed, a blacksmith's and mechanics' workshop, a rowboat shop, an inn) where multimedia experiences evoking work and life at Opémican await them. Some spaces were created to measure from original video and musical content and include an olfactory component.

The interpretative journey was extended in the form of a quest aimed at young visitors, with medallions featuring symbols hidden near each of the markers. These symbols, to be collected using the scratch technique, make it possible to reconstruct a sentence on an interactive element at the end of the journey. A reward awaits any young investigator who brings their answer to the welcome pavilion.

Finally, an exhibition area was set up for visitors who want to learn more about the Opémican site and the timber floating industry.
