Place Pierre-Boucher | City of Trois-Rivière

In 2011, the City of Trois-Rivières began a major redevelopment project on Place Pierre-Boucher, the gateway to its historic district. Before carrying out the work, archaeological digs were conducted on the site. These excavations revealed, among other things, the remains of the City’s first palisade as well as the foundations of the first parish church. The town was keen to interpret the results of these excavations and to tell the story of the spot within the new development.

Contemporary in design, the interpretation panels were meant to be the first phase in the project to renew two series of existing panels from the 1980s and 1990s and become the new standard for the City.

Our team suggested a suite of interpretive furniture featuring three models, each adapted to a particular context and use: a low, sloping model for the fountain, a second counter height model to highlight the point of view in the content, and a third recto-verso vertical model that delivers even more information. Inside the aluminum structures, images tell the story of the themes proposed, like variations on the polygon theme.
