Shipping : Arctic

Presented at the Canadian Museum of History, this temporary exhibition showcases over 200 objects, archival documents and scientific samples, which are the fruit of a five-year Arctic epic adventure. Rich in discoveries and human drama, the adventure has gone down in history as one of the most important expeditions sponsored by the Canadian government.

We worked in collaboration with scenographer Christiane Michaud on this project. We chose a very graphic-based contemporary approach for the treatment of this historical and scientific topic. For instance, because curator David R. Gray mentioned that the Arctic is much less white than people in the south might think, we used bold colour in the scenography. We retouched and recoloured archival photos in a 21st-century style to refocus and update the photos.

Under our direction, a few original animated films were also created using the expedition’s photographic archives. As animated backdrops, they highlight larger objects while enriching the overall experience of the exhibition.
